The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that its governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, will unveil his manifesto on Friday, 30th October, 2026.
The event would take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, formerly the National Arts Theatre, in Iganmu, Lagos.
Director-General of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu–Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (PBAT-KOH) Campaign Council, Musiliu Obanikoro, announced the unveiling in Ikeja.
Obanikoro said the campaign was anchored on shared progress and inclusivity, with a focus on building on the development plans and foundations laid by previous administrations, including that of President Bola Tinubu.
He stressed the need to protect the state’s achievements while addressing outstanding challenges.
“The future of Lagos is too important to be left to chance because the decisions we make today will determine the opportunities available to our children, the strength of our economy, and the quality of life of millions of people who call this state home.
Lagos has made significant progress over the years, but we are not unaware that more work lies ahead. Our responsibility is to protect the gains we have made, address the challenges that remain, and build a state that offers greater opportunities to all.” The Director-General said.
The campaign council director-general highlighted Hamzat’s background in the private sector and public service, citing his PhD in Systems Process Engineering from Cranfield University, experience with global financial institutions Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, and current position as Lagos State Deputy Governor.
Obanikoro also acknowledged achievements under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat, saying their government had transformed the state’s socio-political and economic landscape.
“From the Blue and Red rail lines to hundreds of completed roads and bridges, improvements in schools and hospitals, enhancing the culture and creative economy, to global level, new housing projects, and support for businesses and young people, the administration has continued to develop the state and improve public services.
Dr Hamzat will draw on his experience in government to build on these gains, address existing challenges, and deepen the progress for the benefit of all Lagosians,” Obanikoro stressed.
The manifesto, he said, would be made available for public download, with Lagos residents invited to submit feedback, comments and suggestions.
The presentation is scheduled to run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on major television stations and digital media platforms.
He said the manifesto would present Hamzat’s vision, priorities and plans for the continued development of Lagos State.
According to Obanikoro, the campaign is anchored on continued shared progress and inclusivity, with a commitment to building on existing achievements while ensuring that no resident is excluded from development because of religion, ethnicity, gender, social status or place of origin.
He described Lagos as a major centre of commerce, investment, technology, innovation and culture, but noted that its growing population and limited landmass continued to place pressure on transportation, housing, infrastructure, healthcare, security, education and environmental management.
Obanikoro said successive administrations, from that of President Bola Tinubu when he was governor to those of Babatunde Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode and the incumbent, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had contributed to the state’s development.
He argued that continuity should not mean retaining existing approaches without change, but protecting successful initiatives, correcting shortcomings and building on established foundations.
The campaign director-general said Hamzat’s experience in the private and public sectors would inform his approach to governance.
He cited Hamzat’s doctorate in Systems Process Engineering from Cranfield University in England, his previous work with international financial institutions, including Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Citibank, as well as his service as a commissioner and deputy governor of Lagos State.
Obanikoro added that the campaign had consulted religious leaders, traditional rulers, market women, traders, young people, professionals, artisans and community leaders across the state.
He said the consultations were intended to ensure that the concerns and aspirations of residents informed the candidate’s development priorities.
Obanikoro said the manifesto would subsequently be made available for download to enable members of the public to examine its proposals and submit feedback through appropriate party channels.
He urged Lagosians and other stakeholders to follow the presentation, describing the campaign’s message as a call to “move forward together.”
