Nigeria’s Ebola response is intensifying, with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention increasing the number of contacts under monitoring to 53 as investigations widen around the confirmed case in the FCT.
The Director-General of the NCDC, Dr Jide Idris, while briefing journalists on the situation, said two additional suspected cases are being investigated, but stressed that they are not confirmed infections as earlier suspected case in Rivers State has tested negative.
The Nigeria CDC says contact tracing, disease surveillance and infection-prevention measures have been strengthened as the country mobilises its public health response.
As the Ebola response continue, health authorities say public cooperation, early reporting and strict infection-control measures will be critical to containing the confirmed case and limiting further spread.
