Nigerian Army has confirmed that its troops neutralized seven Boko Haram terrorists, in a fierce gun battle at Damasak in Mobar Local government Area of Borno.

The terrorists attacked the 145 Batallion of the Nigerian army located in Damasak.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai visited the Batallion last Tuesday.

According to Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Texas Chukwu, items recovered from the insurgents included two vehicles, one anti aircraft gun and four AK 47 rifles.

The others, Chukwu said, were seven magazines, two hand grenades, one bayonet, 47 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 174 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.

The army spokesman, however, added the seven soldiers sustained injuries during the encounter.

He said efforts were ongoing to get other fleeing members of the group.
