The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has commended the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, DSS, and other security agencies for the safe rescue of 20 prospective corps members and another person abducted in the Southeast.
Its Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, retired Brigadier General Buba Marwa, gave the commendation in a statement by NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in Abuja.
Reacting to the outcome of the operation, Marwa described the rescue as a victory for the nation and proof of what coordinated, intelligence-driven operations could achieve.
According to him, the safe return of the young Nigerians to their families is a testament to the courage, professionalism and unity of purpose of security agencies.
He added that corps members are the nation’s best, serving their fatherland with hope and idealism, saying Nigeria owes them protection, and today the gallant men and women have delivered.
Marwa also said as a retired military officer serving under the renewed hope administration of President Bola Tinubu, it is imperative for them to draw public attention to the kind of achievement by security agencies and equally commend them.
He acknowledged the series of successful rescue operations carried out by security agencies across the country in recent months, saying the operations had freed other victims of abduction and restored hope to many families.
According to him, every life rescued is a triumph for the collective resolve of the security agencies, saying the operations show that criminals cannot outrun a determined and united security architecture.
The NDLEA chairman assured the security agencies of the agency’s continued support and cooperation, noting that drug trafficking and abuse often fuel violent crime, kidnapping and banditry.
Marwa urged the security agencies to sustain the momentum and called on Nigerians to support the country’s security forces by providing timely and credible information.
He also wished the rescued corps members a speedy recovery and full reunion with their families.
