More than two hundred million naira worth of drugs have been recovered by the Lagos State Police Command at Akala area of Mushin through community partnership.

According to the Command, the recoveries were made, after the complaints recieved from Community Leaders that drug abuse and cultism were the major problems confronting them.

Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said this during a town hall meeting hosted by the Area J Police Command, saying every community had peculiar security challenges.

Imohimi said the command addressed neighbourhood crimes in Ikorodu area with community policing using strategy and technology, saying if synergy could be reciprocated, then issues of neighbourhood crimes would soon be a thing of the past.

He also urged the public to speak out against drug abuse and cultism as policemen could be transferred but the community members would remain in their domains.

Imohimi urged religious leaders, community leaders and public office holders to work together and preach to the people on the evils of cultism.

He also assured residents that the police would do their best under his watch as long as the people trusted the police and showed interest in the way they are being policed.
