Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to improving the welfare of personnel of the Nigerian Military.

Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan- Ali gave the assurance, in Abuja while commissioning the Muhammadu Buhari Quarters at Mogadishu Cantonment and Mambilla Barracks in the FCT.

According to the minister, the provision of the accommodation was informed by the need to address housing deficit faced by the Nigerian military personnel.

Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonishakin said the accommodation meant to improve the welfare of officers and men of the Nigerian Armed forces, as well as motivate them to efficiently perform in the discharge of their duties.

Stressing that a decent shelter plays a vital role in the work force of the Nigerian Military, Olonishakin said the accommodation would also enhance the operation of the Nigerian Military as well as ameliorate the challenges of welfare among staff.

The Defence Headquarters accommodation comprises of one hundred and fourteen flats officers’ quarters at Mogadishu Cantonment and One hundred and fifty-six flats for Soldiers at Mambilla barracks.
