In a bid to improving the response time to all form of emergencies, the Lagos State Government is set to commission the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Response Unit in Ikorodu Road by Fadeyi Bus Stop Onipanu to serve Lagosians in those axis and its environs.
According to the government, the creation of additional Response Unit in strategic locations towards sustained intervention to all forms of emergencies/disastrers was to ensuring safety of lives and properties of Lagosians.
General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Adesina Tiamiyu said this at the Command and Control Centre Alausa, saying the Unit which had just been completed and equipped, would be commissioned on Wednesday by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Tiamiyu said the unit would serve as Dispatch Centre where personnel and equipment would be deployed from time to time to respond to distress calls thereby adding values to the lives of Lagosians in those axis.
According to him, the Centre on Ikorodu Road would complement the existing dispatch point at the Command and Control Centre Alausa in Ikeja, LASEMA Response Unit at Cappa, Oshodi and the recently commissioned LASEMA Response Unit located at Lekki, by Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, while efforts was on-going to create more Centres in other parts of the State, thereby reducing the response time to incidents.
He expressed the need for the General public to partner with government in mitigating and preventing hazards by ensuring distress calls on identified hazards were relayed to relevant responders or stakeholders through the emergency toll free line 112/767 so as to make the State a safe haven for Lagosians and investors.
