Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Niger Command, has warned residents in the state against engaging illegal migrants as personal security guards.

Comptroller of Immigration, Tamuno Oyedeji, who gave the warning, said any migrant without valid documents was not supposed to be in the country.

Any person that wants to remain in our midst must have valid papers for documentation, “she said.

The comptroller further said the service had tightened security at that Babana border post in Burgu Local Government Area of the state, identified and blocked all illegal routes of migrants to the state.

She also said NIS officers at the border post had been adequately briefed on the new strategies to prevent influx of illegal migrants into the state.

She appealed to residents in the border communities to assist the officers deployed to manage the border with necessary information on the movement of illegal migrants.
