Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC, Abdullahi Muhammadu, has presented cheques of N50 million housing renovation loan to officers and men of the corps.

Muhammadu while presenting the cheques to 50 personnel on Wednesday in Abuja said that the loan was secured from the Federal Mortgage B‎ank of Nigeria (FMBN).

He said the measure was part of efforts to improve the welfare of staff as promised on his assumption of duty in 2015.

This is one of my happiest day in office because you will recall that on my assumption of duty I promised to make the welfare of my staff a top priority.

The commandant-general appealed to the management of the FMB‎N to ensure efficient service delivery, especially as regards equity contribution and use of reputable developers.

Muhammadu said the corps with its staff strength and strategic position in the security architecture of the country deserved better services from the FMBN.

Earlier, the Executive Director, Loans and Mortgage, Charles Ajiba, said that the housing renovation loan was one of bank’s scheme for civil servants.

He said about N1 million was presented to each of the 50 NSCDC‎ officials after proper scrutiny for the renovation of their houses or completion of existing structures.

He said the interest rate of just 6 percent was being charged while officers would pay back within five years, depending on their rank and remaining years in service.

Ajiba assured that the bank would continue to collaborate with Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure cheap and affordable houses for their staff.
