Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has said that 10 people died in 14 road accidents in Cross River last December.

FRSC Cross River Sector Commander, Ikechukwu Igwe, said in Calabar on Wednesday that 63 people were injured in auto crashes during the period.

According to the FRSC boss, five people died in Calabar, three in Ikom and one each in Yahe and Ogoja areas.

The Sector Commander said most of the accidents, which were largely caused by over-speeding, happened at night, including the Calabar accident which claimed five lives.

Igwe advised motorists plying the highways to shun speeding and overloading, saying that FRSC officials would not relent in apprehending offenders.

He urged vehicle owners to renew their particulars and carry out routine checks of their vehicles before embarking on long journeys.
