Lagos State Police Command has arrested seventeen policemen for acts of misconduct, including taking bribes.
The policemen, who were arrested between october six and twenty-eight, were undergoing an orderly room trial.
This is just as twenty-six armed robbery suspects and eighteen suspected kidnappers were also rounded up by the police during the same period.
Some of the arrested policemen risked dismissal, while others could be demoted.
Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, confirmed the arrest, saying residents of the state should not hesitate to report erring officers to the command.
Owoseni said the necessary disciplinary measures were being taken against them, saying the command was alive to its responsibilities.
According to him, the command had zero tolerance for crime, saying the command recovered two AK-forty-seven rifles, fourteen locally-made pistols and one hundred and ninety-three live cartridges from them.
He said in the different police operations, seventeen vehicles were recovered from criminal elements, while eleven mobile phones were also recovered.
