The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA) has expressed sympathy and condolences to retired Major General Moundhey Gadzama Ali following the death of his wife, Late Mrs. Japari Ali, JP (née Ubandoma).

The group also conveyed its solidarity with the retired senior military officer and his family as they mourn the loss of their matriarch.

In a statement made available to journalists by the Convener of PSNAFSA, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, the organisation prayed for God’s comfort and strength for Major General Ali and his loved ones during the period of bereavement.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences and solidarity with retired Major General Moundhey Gadzama Ali and his entire family during this difficult time. We pray that God grants them the strength, comfort and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement said.

The group also prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Mrs. Japari Ali.

“May the soul of Late Mrs. Japari Ali rest in eternal peace,” it added.

Major General Ali is a distinguished retired officer of the Nigerian Army and is widely recognised as the pioneer Commander of the Nigerian Special Forces.

During his 34-year military career, he held several strategic appointments, including serving as Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry and as the pioneer Commandant of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Buni Yadi, Yobe State.

He also participated in international peacekeeping missions, including operations in Liberia, where he contributed to regional peace and stability.

Since retiring from active military service, Major General Ali has remained active in community development initiatives.

In September 2022, he spearheaded the inauguration of a 120,000-litre water supply scheme in his hometown of Lassa, Borno State, as part of efforts to improve access to potable water and enhance the welfare of residents.

PSNAFSA prayed that God would continue to uphold the bereaved family and grant them the grace to overcome the painful loss.
