The Lagos State Public Service has celebrated the retirement of Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Olanrewaju Adetokunbo Bajulaiye, as he bows out after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60, bringing to a close a distinguished career marked by excellence, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to public service.

Widely regarded as one of Lagos State’s foremost technocrats and communication strategists, Bajulaiye earned widespread admiration for his visionary leadership, integrity, and dedication to advancing effective governance through strategic communication.

During his tenure as Permanent Secretary, he spearheaded significant reforms that strengthened government-media relations, enhanced public information management, and improved citizens’ access to government policies, programmes, and achievements.

He also championed transparency, professionalism, ethical journalism, and effective public communication across the State’s public service.

Beyond his administrative accomplishments, Bajulaiye was renowned for his passion for mentorship and human capital development.

He invested in nurturing the next generation of public servants, empowering officers across ministries, departments, and agencies through guidance, encouragement, and exemplary leadership.

His calm disposition, discipline, and people-centred approach earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and stakeholders alike.

Tributes poured in from government officials, family members, friends, professional associates, and media practitioners, who described him as a transformational leader whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the Lagos State Public Service.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Information Chapel, also commended his exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication, and immense contributions to journalism and public communication.

Those who worked closely with him recalled his administrative competence, humility, wisdom, and ability to navigate complex communication challenges with diplomacy and professionalism.

Many expressed confidence that his wealth of experience will continue to serve society through mentorship, strategic communication, and policy advocacy in retirement.

As he takes a well-deserved bow from active public service,  Olanrewaju Adetokunbo Bajulaiye leaves behind a legacy built on excellence, integrity, innovation, and selfless service, a legacy that will continue to inspire current and future generations of public servants in Lagos State.

His retirement marks the end of a distinguished career spanning several decades, during which he rose through the ranks to become one of the state’s most respected technocrats, earning admiration for his professionalism, integrity, visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence.

A consummate communication professional, he championed professionalism among information officers while promoting ethical journalism, transparency and effective dissemination of government information.

His commitment to capacity building also earned him the respect of officers across ministries, departments and agencies, many of whom benefited from his mentorship and leadership. Staff members described him as an accessible administrator who combined firmness with compassion, inspiring excellence through personal example.

In a goodwill message commemorating his retirement, the NUJ Lagos Information Chapel celebrated him for his “exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication and distinguished service to the Lagos State Public Service,” noting that his 60 years of life reflected a legacy of impact, honour and selfless service.

As he bows out of active service, many believe that retirement will merely signal the beginning of another chapter of national service through mentoring, public policy advocacy and strategic communication consultancy.

While congratulating him on attaining the milestone of 60 years and a successful completion of his public service career, associates wished him sound health, divine grace and greater accomplishments in the years ahead.

To celebrate the milestones 60th birthday and retirement, colleagues gathered at the Lagos State Chapel of Christ the Light for Bajulaiye’s birthday and retirement thanksgiving.

It was so colourful ceremony attended by the Lagos State Head of Service, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Office, Sukanmi Oyegbola, Body of Permanent Secretaries, Past Permanent Secretaries, directors,  pubkic servants, family and friends.

Bajulaiye is a sessioned public servant, accomplished professional Information officer, and strategic communicatior whose career in the Lagos State Civil Service spans over three decades with dedicated and exemplary service in the aeras of public administration,  governance and information management.

His earlier roles includes serving with four deputy governors as head of PR, and communication. He was pioneer press secretary to the Oba of Lagos.

Baju as he is popularly called withi the service served in over 20 MDAs including education,  fiance, weorks and infrastructure, WAPA, SSG among others

The Outgoing permanent Secretary was born on July 5,1966, into the distinguished Eletu-Odibo, Sasi, and Bajulaiye Chieftaincy families of Isale Eko. He started his  Lagos State Civil Service on March 24,1995.

He was elected as a member of the governing council of NIPR in 2023, NUJ, among others.He has derved as the chairman of NUJ, Lagos Information chapel.

The Isale-Eko born Prince Bajulaiye is a passionate supporter of stationary stores football club and Liverpool FC.

He is married to Deaconess Tolulope Olubukola, and their union is blessed with children and grandchildren.
