President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State to lead millions of All Progressives Congress (APC) members to cast their votes in the primaries scheduled to hold across the country.
To participate in the primaries beginning from the House of Representatives scheduled for 16th May, 2026, Tinubu, who returned to Lagos State from his over two-week foreign trip, will be voting for his preferred aspirants during the exercise.
The president, who left the country on 2nd May for a trip to France, attended the Africa-France summit in Kenya and the Africa CEO Forum in Rwanda, and returned to Lagos, ending the two-week trip.
Tinubu, ministers, and other members of the travelling team returned to Lagos less than 12 hours before the exercise that determines APC candidates for the Green Chamber commenced across the country.
He added that Tinubu would remain in Lagos for the period of the primaries and possibly for the Eid al-Adha celebration in the state.
The postponement of the House of Representatives primary from Friday to Saturday was done to ensure that the President leads millions of party members to cast their votes during the primary.
Tinubu, whose plane landed around 7:12 pm at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, was received by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy and gubernatorial aspirant, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
Others who joined the delegation that received him at the airport were the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, and other government officials in the state.
On his arrival, the President, according to sources from the Villa, would be mediating between members vying keenly to secure the APC ticket for elective positions ahead of the 2027 general election in the country.
