​President Bola Tinubu has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to shun rancorous conduct as the party commences its nationwide primary elections tomorrow.

In a statement personally signed by the president, Tinubu described the upcoming internal polls beginning with House of Representatives aspirants and culminating in the presidential primaries on 25th May as a referendum on the unity and resilience of the ruling party.

​Acknowledging the provisions of the new Electoral Act (2026), President Tinubu threw his weight behind ongoing efforts by party stakeholders to produce consensus candidates.

He described the move as a commendable option capable of reducing bad blood within the APC ranks.

​For constituencies where consensus fails, the President urged a peaceful contest, reminding aspirants that politics should not be a do or die affairs

He specifically warned winners against gloating and urged those who lose to accept the results in their stride

​The President charged APC Governors and party leadership to remain impartial arbiters.

He emphasized the need for a level playing field that guarantees participation without hindrance, ensuring that even in defeat, aspirants feel they were given a fair contest.

​He further made a passionate plea for the inclusion of women and youth demographics ,urging voters and leaders to give them special consideration during the exercise.

​Directing his attention to the Nigerian Police and other security agencies, president tinubu warned against any form of interference in the democratic process.

​The House of Representatives primaries are expected to begin across the Federation tomorrow marking the first phase of the APC’s journey toward the 2027 general elections.
