The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its House of Representatives Primary Election ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The ruling party announced on Thursday that the exercise, initially scheduled for an earlier date, will now hold on Saturday, 16th May, 2026.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

According to the party, all other primary election dates remain unchanged.

Under the revised timetable, the Senate primaries will hold on Monday, 18th May, while the State House of Assembly primaries are scheduled for Wednesday, 20th May.

The governorship primaries will take place on Thursday, 21st May, while the presidential primary is expected to hold on Saturday, 23rd May, 2026.

Although the APC did not give reasons for the postponement, the adjustment comes as political activities continue to intensify within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The forthcoming primaries are expected to attract keen interest from aspirants seeking tickets to contest various elective positions under the platform of the ruling party.

Political observers say the exercise will play a crucial role in shaping the APC’s strategy and internal power structure ahead of the next general elections.

The party leadership has assured members and stakeholders that preparations for the remaining primaries are on course.
