In a decisive move to enforce his strategic directive for the restoration of lasting peace, President Bola Tinubu arrived in Jos today to condole with the government and people of Plateau State following the recent unrest in Unguwan Rukuba, Jos North LGA.

The President was received at the Yakubu Gowon Airport by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Caleb Mutfwang and members of the National and State Assembly.

Also on the ground to receive the Commander-in-Chief were the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd); the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu; the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu; and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division/Commander Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE and other heads of security agency

Earlier in the day, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, conducted a firsthand, on-the-spot assessment of the affected areas in Unguwan Rukuba.

During the visit, the COAS engaged with community leaders and residents, urging all law-abiding citizens to remain calm and provide actionable intelligence to the Nigerian Army and sister security agencies.

The COAS emphasised that the military remains committed to the President’s mandate of rooting out perpetrators of violence and ensuring that “Operation ENDURING PEACE” restores total normalcy to the Plateau.
