The Lagos State Police Command, has confirmed that officers involved in a shooting incident in Alagbado, Lagos, have been arrested and taken into custody.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi who confirmed this in a post shared on X, said the Commissioner of Police, Olorundare Jimoh has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

Adebisi said the Commissioner of Police has ordered the adequate deployment of personnel to forestall any breakdown of law and order, however normalcy has been restored to the area.

She said CP Jimoh assured the good people of Lagos State that justice will be served and the outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course.

Adebisi said the detained policemen were reportedly chasing suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo boys,” around the area when they fired the gunshots.

According to reports, the police officers are attached to the AIT division police station, saying the officers, who were on stop-and-search duty, ran away immediately after shooting the passersby, “leaving the unconscious victims without aid until they gave up the ghost as they couldn’t get help.

The incident follows a series of cult clashes recorded in parts of the state, particularly in Iyana-Ipaja, Aboru, Badore, Olokonla, Onipanu, and Satellite Town, where at least four people have been reportedly killed, and several others injured.
