The Zone-2 Police Command says it has arrested a suspected armed robber, who has been terrorising residents of Banana Island, Parkview, Lekki Phase 1 and other estates on the Island in Lagos.

Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone -2, AIG Adegoke Fayoade confirmed this to newsmen in Lagos.

Fayoade said the suspect and three others, including a female, were arrested for alleged armed robbery, house breaking, stealing and burglary in the areas mentioned in Lagos State.

The AIG said on February 4, 2026, Parkview Residents Association Ikoyi Lagos reported recurrent robbery incidents through a written petition to his office.

He said the petition indicated some criminal syndicates that have burgled several houses and properties carted away.

The AIG said the petitions also indicated incidents of armed robbery, which necessitated the matter to be referred to the Zonal Anti-Piracy Unit for discreet investigation and report.

Fayoade said a team of operatives was given directive to unmasked the suspects, stressing that the team swung into action after a tip-off, which led to the arrest of the principal suspect, simply identified as Francis.

He said the suspect was arrested at his hideout in a short-let apartment known as George Residence located along Femi-Pedro Street, Parkview Estate Ikoyi, Lagos.

The AIG said on February 6, 2026, a sting operation, which lasted till early morning of February 7, led to the recovery of various exhibits, including cars, jewelries and other valuables.

“The suspect, a resident of Port Harcourt in Rivers State came to Lagos sometimes last year and rented a short-let apartment located within high-brow gated communities for easy access into his target estate before committing the dastardly acts.

“The suspect, who always appears in a hoodie, masked with guns and other dangerous weapons during his robbery operations, confessed to be the sole perpetrator of several robbery incidents in Parkview Estate, Banana Island estate Ikoyi, Lekki Phase 1 and other notable Estates within the Lagos island axis.

“The suspect also confessed to have carted away properties worth over N3 billion before his apprehension. His confession led to the arrest of one Hassan, a receiver of the stolen items, who confessed to be the buyer of Gold and Diamond jewelries, Gold bar, several designer watches and other stolen items from Francis.

“He stated further that most of the stolen items he purchased from Francis were taken to Cotonou, Benin Republic by his brother in order to avoid been caught by the real owners in Nigeria.

“He also explained that he used part of the proceed of the robbery to purchase a 2018 Mercedes Benz GLE for Francis, which cost about ₦74 million,” he said.

AIG Fayoade said that items recovered from the suspects include one dark grey unregistered Mercedes Benz GLE, with CHASIS NO: 4JGED6EB7JA094974, one LEXUS RX 350 black colour, with registeration NO: AB451KR.

Other items were one black plastic Pistol, five blue crowbar, three pliers, one serrated kitchen knife, one adjustable spanner, three screwdrivers, one black facemask with whilte inscription, one black hoodie with white inscription and one black shirt.

Also recovered were a pair of black hand gloves with yellow and red design, seven mobile phones, four Ipads, 22 pairs of earrings, 13 single pair of earrings, six wristwatches, five rings, one leather strap bracelets, two Gold bangle bracelets, two pendants, four handchains, eight necklaces, two brown backpacks and charms.
