The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, for the Ogun State Police Command.
A lawyer and career police officer, DSP Babaseyi holds an LL.B in Law from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano; a Barrister-at-Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus; and a Diploma in Law from Osun State University.
A member of the pioneer 1st Regular Course of the Police Academy, he brings a strong blend of legal expertise, operational experience, and administrative competence to his new role.
DSP Babaseyi has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative postings across divisions and specialised units.
He was Divisional Crime Officer at Monatan and Kajorepo Divisions, and Officer-in-Charge of Ilaji and Lagelu Police Posts, all in Oyo State, where he led criminal investigations, supervised personnel, and coordinated crime-prevention strategies.
His operational depth was further enhanced by a three-year deployment as Unit Commander with the Police Mobile Force (22 PMF).
In 2023, he trained at the Nigerian Army School of Special Forces, Buni Yadi, before participating in joint military operations under Operation Hadin Kai across Yobe and Borno States.
DSP Babaseyi has also demonstrated strong administrative and strategic communication skills.
He previously served as Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command and as Secretary to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, where he was involved in high-level command administration, policy coordination, and media engagement.
Until his latest appointment, he distinguished himself in public relations, media management, and stakeholder communication.
