The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), FCT Chapter, celebrated International Women’s Day paying tribute to the resilience, dedication, and sacrifices of women in security and law enforcement.
Held at the POWA Secretariat in Jabi, on March 8, in Abuja.


The event brought together police officers’ wives, senior female officers, and students from POWA schools across the FCT.


It was a moment of reflection and celebration, highlighting the vital role women play in safeguarding the nation.


In her address, FCT POWA Chairperson, Disu Olufunmilola, represented by wife of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Finance & Administration), Veronica Iwodi acknowledged the unwavering commitment of women in law enforcement.


She emphasised their indispensable contributions to national security and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their mission to protect citizens.


To every woman breaking barriers and standing strong in the face of adversity, your resilience is the foundation of families, communities, and nations. She affirmed.
Earlier, Senior female police officers, including ACP Ifeyinwa Ndibe and CSP Esther Ogunfowora, at the event, shared personal experiences of balancing demanding careers with family responsibilities.
They stressed the need for self-care, resilience, and unwavering commitment to navigate the challenges of work-life balance.
The event celebrated women’s vital role in national security, with experts emphasizing their impact on policing and society, reinforced by a spirited performance from the Police Live Band.
