Members of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration of Nigeria, ICSAN, in their tens turned up for the annual Walk for Life exercise aimed at keeping healthy and having improved mental fitness.


The walk for life exercise had participants walk for about two hours around the Ikeja Central Business District, from ICSAN Secretariat, Alausa, Kudirat Abiola way, Obafemi Awolowo road, Lateef Jakande way, and back to the ICSAN Secretariat.


The walk 4 Life which had both male and female numbering about one hundred wore purple, red and white t-shirts with face-caps to march danced to music band while walking and singing to the sound beat by the band.


The ICSAN annual “Walk 4 Life”, walk and aerobic session fused with health talks and enlightenment talk is a prelude to ICSAN 48th annual conference, holding on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th September 2024.
According to ICSAN President and Council Chairman, Funmi Ekundayo, as a professional institute, the members are extremely busy but opportunities like this helps them to loosen up as ICSAN brings in other partners to add value to the event.


According to Ekundayo who is the first female President, governance is not a matter that you keep to yourself, you have to share it because governance cuts across both private, public, and also not-for-profit organisations.
In her words, we have to ensure that we keep widening the space. Keep doing this conversation and this narrative so that as many people as possible will know what we are doing”.


She described the ‘Walk 4 Life’ as an opportunity for members to unwind, much more than that, have access to other information that will make a huge difference to us and everybody “sound mind we do have, sound body we also need so that when you say he is a professional, he is a professional both in activities and also the skills that he possesses”.
Ekundayo said the major reason for the event was to remind participants and the citizenry to engage in exercises to keep them healthy and mentally fit.
According to her, the walk would further help to sensitise the public about the Institute’s upcoming Annual Conference, scheduled for 12th and 13th September 2024.
The ICSAN boss, however, commended the participants and urged them to cultivate the habit of exercising themselves and keeping fit as a lifestyle.
Ekundayo said the 48th annual conference, Awards and Dinner, themed; Reassessing the Governance Dynamics in Nigeria’s Transition to Enduring Development and National Prosperity.
The Conference will be Chaired by the Founder/Chief Executive Officer of The Chair Centre Group, Mrs Ibukun Biodun Awosika, Keynote Speaker is Senior Partner, Kenna Partners; Fabian Ajogwu,SAN, Speakers and panellists expected include; Chairman, MTN Nigeria; Ernest Ndukwe, Group Executive Director, Rainoil Limited; Codrey Ogbechie, Senior Economist and Partner, Professionals; Paul Alaje, Partner Babalakin & Co who is adjunct professor, University of Ibadan; Adebayo Adaralegbe, and CEO, Aisec Nominees Limited, Oyindamola Ehiwere.
ICSAN Vice President Uto Ukpanah said the Institute recognises that the health of professional is key to achieving set objectives.
Ukpanah said the “Walk for Life” programme is put in place for members, professionals as an event that provides opportunities for regular physical exercise and body fitness activities.
She said ICSAN organises “Walk for Life” in a year to encourage professionals to embrace walking as a way of raising their fitness level.
The ICSAN Vice President also asked members, their families, associates and the public to be more conscious of their health habits.
