Theatre commanders and General Officers Commanding in the North East have been directed to ensure they secure their barracks, cantonments and locations.

According to Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, who gave the directive, said the task is a command responsibility.

Lagbaja insisted that it has become expedient now considering the fact that they are commanding under a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment.

Lagbaja who charged the officers to think of fresh ideas aimed at tackling insurgency, noted that the commanders’ ability to make administrative, operational or tactical judgment and exercise effective leadership must be unquestionable.

He gave the directive in a keynote address he delivered at the second Commanding Officer’s Workshop hosted in Lagos by 81 Division of the Nigerian Army.

The army chief spoke through the Corp Commander, Army Engineer, General Phillip Eromosele.
