The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, has presented twenty-six million, one hundred and seventy thousand, seven hundred and sixty naira cheques to families of deceased officers who died while in active service.

The cheques issued to the next of kins of seven deceased officers, is part of the IGP insurance welfare scheme.

Delta State Police Commissioner, Ari Ali while presenting the cheques appreciated the gesture exhibited by the IGP as the cheques will in no small way, act as a boost to the families.

According to him, it will also to let them know that though their loved ones are no more, the force did not forget their sacrifices.

The beneficiaries thanked the IGP for his magnanimity, noting that the money given to them will be used judiciously.
Meanwhile, it was celebration galore as CP Ali decorates newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Police, and Chief Superintendent of Police.
They include the DPO ‘A’ Division Asaba CSP Temitope Fasugba, the officer in-charge Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department CSP Emmanuel Yakubu, the DPO Abbi Division, CSP Mu’azu Mohammed all promoted to the rank of an Assistant Commissioners of Police, others promoted are the Command finance officer (CFO) SP Ogungbagbe Opeyemi, the Commander Crack Squad, SP John Agaga and four others promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendents of Police.
The CP admonished all the beneficiaries to remember that the reward for hard work is more work and therefore advises them to put more effort in whatever they do as Police officers.
ACP Temitope Fasugba giving a vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, stated that they will not disappoint the IGP and the Command as they move to the next level in their Policing careers.
