President Bola Tinubu will address the nation on Thursday, 1st October 2026, at 7 a.m., to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
All television and radio stations, and other electronic media outlets, are advised to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for the broadcast.
President Tinubu dismissed concerns over his health, declaring that he is fit, sound and ready to resume work following his return to Nigeria from a working vacation in London and Paris, France.

Asked about his vacation, President Tinubu said he enjoyed the period, which began in London before he proceeded to Paris, France.
The President arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday evening, bringing to an end about four weeks away from the country.
He was received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, among other dignitaries.
President Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 for London to begin his working vacation before proceeding to Paris, where he undertook official engagements, including meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré.
The President returned through Lagos ahead of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and the premiere of a movie honouring the late Chief MKO Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Lagos.
