The Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, has kicked off Outcome Based Education Training for teachers across all the Government Technical Colleges in Lagos State.

Its Executive Secretary, Moronke Azeez reiterated that the major reason for continuous training for teachers and instructors is to improve on quality teaching strategies and methods to achieve outstanding learning outcomes.

She mentioned that outcome based education training is a system of education which gives priority to ends, purpose, accomplishments and result about curriculum, assessment and instruction driven by exit learning outcomes.

To Azeez “continuous training of Instructors and Administrators whether in Trade, Admin, Craft and other Technical areas is done to achieve the best and to encourage teachers development” she submitted.
She appreciated the effort of the West African Vocational Education for supporting quality technical and vocational education Training, saying the board continues to organise Outcome Based Education Training for Teachers because the government wants the best in the education sector to ensure existing colleges fulful their purpose where students are properly taught and monitored.
Azeez further advised the participants to continue to improve themselves especially in the area of Information Technology and make sure they teach students how to pick references from the internet. This according to her will improve information flow from instructors to students.
She concluded by appreciating the administration of. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for its support in training and retraining of Instructors in Technical Colleges to bring the best in the Education Sector and therefore urge the teachers to think deeply about their roles in deepening knowledge as the intention of LASTVEB is to become Harvard of technical education in Nigeria.
In his contributions, the Director, Educational Planning and Development, LASTVEB, noted TVET experts have been facilitating the training in the last three years for instructors to be very effective on the job to produce responsive and gender inclusive technical and vocational education for labour market, self employment and higher education
According to Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Muinat Adeleke-Asimi, Outcome Based Education Training is a three-day course to grow the knowledge of teachers and become more effective on the job and by extension improve knowledge acquired by students.
