In its bid to extend the knowledge and understanding of Alternative Dispute Resolution platform, the Lagos State Citizens’ Mediation Centre has organised a mediation training programme for members of Police Community Relations Committee in Lagos State.

Addressing the participants at the training held at Folarin Coker Staff Clinic, Alausa, Director of the Centre, Biola Oseni said the training was organised to spread the knowledge of ADR and also share the basic principles of mediation needed to practice as a professional mediator.

She urged the participants to seize the opportunity for effective and efficient mediation practice.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi acknowledged the immense contribution of the Centre in the amicable resolution of disputes.

According to him, mediation has been the best alternative dispute resolution mechanism to ensure matters are amicably resolved.

Alabi who spoke through the Deputy Commissional of Police, Bassey Ewan, urged participants to pay attention and acquire all relevant techniques and skills needed to function as professional mediators.

Acknowledging the impact of the Centre in conflict resolution, the Chairman PCRC, Apostle Kehinde Showemimo said CMC has been helping in decongesting the court of cases that could be resolved amicably through Alternative Dispute Resolution.

He charged the PCRC members to be part of community peacemakers through the application of basic mediation techniques for amicable resolution of disputes.

The training had sixty-two participants in attendance and were all taken through the practical session for better understanding.

The training is scheduled to hold on six different days within the month of June and July to avoid overcrowding and also achieve a seamless training session.
