Over sixty thousand traffic offenders have been arrested on Lagos roads, between January and December last year.
The offenders arrested by the Lagos State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps were on an average of fifteen thousand every quarter which is every three months.
This is according to its Sector Commander, Olusegun Ogungbemide, at an End-of-the-Year party Organised by the Badagry Unit Command of the Corps in Badagry.
In his words, during the end of the year special patrols, which was between December fifteen to January fifteen, the command arrested an average of six thousand traffic offenders.
Ogungbemide said the command recorded more than one hundred deaths on Lagos roads in the year under review, explaining that in this year the command would emphasise more enforcement on commercial vehicles.
He urged motorists to always cooperate with security agencies and the traffic management teams on the roads, to ensure a reduction in road crashes on Lagos roads.
Also, the Unit Commander, FRSC Badagry command, Sulaiman Taiwo said his command’s operational excellence was second to none in the entire sector.
According to Taiwo, God had been so kind to the command that a knocked down staff, who was unconscious for eight hours in the emergency ambulance, had regained consciousness and quick recovery.
