The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, has seized cash and illicit drugs worth over one hundred and thirty billion naira in twenty-twenty-one.
It also secure one thousand four hundred convictions of offenders within the same period.
Its Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Retired Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, said this at a news briefing on the occasion of his one year in office.
According to him, the agency take solace in the fact that its achievements of last year surpassed the records of any given year of the past thirty years.
In his words, the agencys interdiction efforts yielded unparalleled results in drug supply, reduction which as of December last year led to the arrests of twelve thousand three hundred and six suspects, including seven drug barons.
He said conviction of one thousand four hundred offenders; pending one thousand five hundred and two cases in court; seizure of over three point four million kilograms of assorted drugs; drugs and cash seized worth over one hundred and thirty billion naira; four hundred and six hectares of Cannabis farms destroyed; contributions to the Consolidated Account through asset forfeiture; and seven thousand seven hundred and sixty-one drug users counselled and rehabilitated in NDLEA facilities.
