Kogi State Governor, Yahaha Bello has appealed to the retired Generals across the country to continue to offer advice in ways of combating insecurity in Nigeria.
He made the call when he played host to the group made up of mostly retired military personnel led by the former Military Governor of old Western States and a former Minister of Police Affairs, General David Jemibewon (Rtd).
Governor Bello in a statement by his Chief press secretary , Onogu muhammed noted that the fight against criminal elements cannot be won by those in position of authority alone, hence the need for collective efforts by the retired security personnels accross board.
While thanking the group for the visit, He commended their advisory role which he said has added more values to every decision his administration has made and promised to continue to seek their wealth of experience, wisdom and kind advice in ensuring that his administration remained focused in the provisions of critical needs for the people of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the group retired General AB Momoh applauded Bello’s giant strides in the areas of infrastructure, security, education and human capital development- a feat, they asked, should be replicated at the national level
Other members of the council present during the visit include Vice Admiral Joseph Ajayi Rtrd, Chief James Awoniyi, Chief Ishaq Ajibola, And Secretary of the group Chief Benjamin Taiwo.
The elders also commended the governor for the establishment of Alape Staple Crops Processing Zone in the state and urged him for speedy completion of the project.
