In its bid to accelerate the wheel of justice and upholding law and order in the State, the Lagos State Citizens’ Mediation in February, 2021 successfully settled 1,206 cases.
Director Citizens’ Mediation Centre (CMC), Biola Oseni disclosed this during the presentation of CMC monthly activity report.
According to her, the total number of petitions received was 1,473 out of which 1,206 cases were totally resolved by the Centre; 22 cases were independently resolved by the parties; 142 cases are adjourned for further mediation while 103 cases were referred to appropriate agencies.
Speaking on the monthly report, Oseni reiterated the centre’s commitment towards amicable resolution of disputes in the State.
She said, CMC’s services have been spread across the State as the Centre’s sub offices can be found in almost all the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the State.
She therefore urged members of the public to adopt Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) platform in settling their disputes and equally advised them to locate CMC office close to them and have their disputes settled free of charge.
