The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Sector Command, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide has paid a courtesy visit to the Zonal Operations Controller of the Department of Petroleum Resources, Lagos, Engr. Ayorinde Cardoso at the DPR’s Zonal Head Office, Victoria Island.

He in his speech commended the DPR for their commitment and good working relations with the Corps over the years in ensuring sanity in petroleum tanker operations in the country.

Ogungbemide further called for synergy and collaboration during the sensitisation enforcement of API “Safety valves and manhole system on the trucks”.

The Sector Commander said this will checkmate spillage during crashes involving tankers that may lead to inferno.

He stated that 178 personnel of the Corps were presently at Tank farms in the state to ensure minimum safety standards of tankers.

In his response, Cardoso lauded FRSC for the partnership in delivering the joint mandate, noting that DPR mandate demand safety in downstream industry including transportation.

He further emphasised on the need for continuous training of tanker drivers for safer roads.
