Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, has called on Nigerians to promote sports activities in the country to foster national integration and peaceful coexistence.
Governor Bello made the call in Abuja when he received some ex- super Eagle players led by Austin Eguavoen who presented him an Award of Excellence in humanity and sports development.

Governor Bello who described Nigeria as a heterogeneous society comprising people of different ethnic, religious political, and cultural background said nothing unites the country than football.

He expressed believe that the country will bounce back to achieve greater heights when we reflect on the commitment’s, patriotic, sacrifice and dedication of the ex-supper eagle legends especially excellent performance during USA 94, Atlanta 96 tournament for making the nation proud.

The Governor, also emphasised the need for governments at all levels to pay more attention to youth and sports for togetherness national unity, as he appealed to the youths to add more value to nation’s building in showcasing their talents.

Presenting the award to the Governor Bello the leader of the deligations who was the former Nigerian super eagle striker Austin Eguavoen applauded him for his developmental stride in all sector of economy particularly in kogi state.
Eguavoen Maintain that Ex internationale Nigerian footballers has resolved to work closely with the kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello to achieve a more greater heights in politics as he deserves more support from the people of the state and Nigerians at Large.
Among the deligations to include, Austin JJ Okocha, Tijani Babangida, Garba Lawal, Taribo West, Victor Agali and Ifeanyi Udeze.
