In his avowed determination to change the crime narrative in Kwara State, Commissioner of Police, Mohammad Bagega has met with top management officers, heads of Tactical Units and Divisional Police Officers in the command.
At the meeting, he stated his policing philosophy that will lead to the desired policing strategy of his dream in the state.
According to him, this includes policing with fear of God and human face.
In his words, officers should know that the main purpose of police existence in Kwara state is the people and as such, police officers must partner with relevant stakeholders in their respective areas of responsibility bereft of any acrimony but with mutual confidence and respect which will ultimately make their job easy.
He warned that abuse of fundamental rights of the citizens would not be tolerated.
Bagega says illegal detention, extortion and abuses in general by the men will be met with stiff sanctions.
He admonished the officers to be alert and be proactive, do more of intelligence led policing, possess a positive outlook and change of attitude while working in line with the community policing strategy of the Inspector General of Police and in accordance with global best policing practice.
Bagega further emphasised on constant and sustained raids of criminal hide outs, prosecution of culpable suspects in such operations devoid of any pecuniary considerations.
He reiterated his support and defense of police officers and men doing the right thing while acts of indiscipline among any rank would be summarily punished.
The Police boss Thanked the government and people of Kwara state for their support, cooperation and partnership and solicited for more of such collaboration so that his desire for an effective and efficient police service in the state becomes a reality, stating that criminal has no hiding place in Kwara.
