Secretary to Lagos State Government, Folashade Jaji has said retirees must cherish and be proud of their accomplishments in retirement.
She spoke during a send forth ceremony organized for two officers who retired statutorily on attaining the age of sixty years in March and April but could not have their Last Day in Office celebrated due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Commending the two retirees, Funmilayo Alagbe (Chief Secretarial Officer) and Aremu Adekunle (Chief Data Processing Assistant I), the SSG explained that “the thought of saying goodbye to a work one has been doing for several years often makes us to forget the universal truth that everything that has a beginning, has an end”
However, Officers must always be conscientious in their responsibilities so that on a day of retirement, they will not only be celebrated for their contributions but will also be missed after retirement.
She commended the retirees for their hardwork and commitment to the service of Lagos State and OSSG/Cabinet Office in particular in realizing the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Development Agenda for A Greater Lagos. She advised them to remain safe and healthy in the new face of their lives with a warning not to rush into putting their resources into business without proper feasibility studies.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of SSG/Cabinet Office, Kemi Durosinmi-Etti admonished the retirees to enjoy time with their families and hook up with their passion.
She added that Lagos State Government will always look after them in retirement as explained by the Officers who represented the Head of Service, Civil Service Commission and Lagos State Pension Commission at the ceremony.
The retirees were later presented with Certificates of Retirement and gifts from the Public Service Office and OSSG/Cabinet Office.
In their response, they both appreciated the Government for the opportunity to work in the Centre of Excellence.
They also praised the SSG and management staff for their leadership, and the entire staff of the Office for being great co-workers.
