Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, has declared a zero tolerance to sexual and gender-based violence in the State while promising that perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
Sanwo-olu who made this known in a statement issued to announce the arrest of one Afobaje Maiyegun who boasted in a post on Facebook that he had just beaten up his wife and declared he is ‘’waiting for her police‘’ to come and arrest him.
The governor revealed that the state Ministry of Justice will arraign him on Friday.
The State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT had reached out to Area J Commander, Gbolahan Odugbemi, who ensured that the culprit was arrested when their attention was drawn to the post.
According to the team head, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, preliminary investigation conducted revealed that this is not the first time Maiyegun would perpetrate such an act.
Vivour-Adeniyi, has issued a clear warning to perpetrators of gender-based violence in the State to desist from such dastardly act, stressing that perpetrators will face the full wrath of the law.

She reiterated the position of the State government against sexual and domestic violence that the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu declared a zero tolerance to sexual and gender-based violence in the State and as such perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
