Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps has declared it readiness to ensure compliance with the directives of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the coronavirus pandemic.
According to its Corps Marshal, Gbemisola Akinpelu, the agency as part of the essential service providers and enforcement team, had directed all operatives to remain at their duty posts to enforce compliance.
Akinpelu a retired Commissioner of Police implored all operators of non-food and non-medical stores and markets to close down their outlets as directed by the government, warning that the Agency, along with other enforcement and security personnel, would not tolerate violation of the directive.
She further admonished the market leaders to also scale up advocacy on environmental and personal hygiene among members and other market users while undertaking regular handwashing with soap and water, as well as regular use of hand sanitisers and nose masks.
She gave an assurance that LAGESC officers will continue regular monitoring and enforcement of social distancing, particularly the prevention of more than 25 people at any gathering within their communities.
The Corps Marshal finally admonished Lagosians in line with the directives of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to embrace social distancing as well as stay at home and limit their contact with people as a means to curb the spread of the virus amongst our people.
