The Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts,CBD, today enforced total compliance to the Governor’s directive, sensitise and enlighten traders, business owners and visitors within the Island.

This is in line with Lagos State Government directive for all open markets and stores to close down in an efforts to curtail the spread of the dreaded coronavirus.

Special Adviser to the Governor on CBD, Olugbenga Olarenwaju said this while monitoring the compliance level of open markets and stores within the Lagos Island Business District.

He advised that all business premises, traders and customers who were not affected by the directives not to open for business to maintain strict hygiene and safe distance while conducting business with the CBD.

“No business premises and shops should have more than 25 customers at a time and provision must be made for hand washing as well as an alcohol-based sanitiser for the use of all customers. Business owners, customers as well as visitors must also observe social distancing of not less than two metres from each other at all times,” Olanrewaju said.

The Special Adviser also warned that any business owner that refuses to comply with the State government’s directive on social gatherings will be shut down and penalised, imploring open markets and store owners affected by the directive not to open for business but stay home as instructed.

The Enforcement team was made up of officers from the Nigeria Police, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, the Nigeria Army and the Neighbourhood Watch.
