Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, have given a graphic account of how a man jumped into the Lagos Lagoon.
According to the operatives, the man, who was a passenger in a vehicle driving towards Oworonsoki area, had asked the driver to stop, on the pretext that he wanted to ease himself on the Third Mainland Bridge, instead jumped into the lagoon around University of Lagos waterfront.
RRS riders on patrol got to the scene almost immediately and called for assistance from the Marine Police and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, who, with the assistance of local divers, recovered his body, which was taken to Ebute Ero Police Division.
Meanwhile, reports says the man is a journalist who works with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.
The deceased journalist pretended that he wanted to urinate after he alighted from a commercial bus conveying him and some of his colleagues to work before he dived into the lagoon.
