With barely five days to the governorship election in Ekiti State, Nigeria Police has begun the disbursement of the allowances of all the policemen participating in the poll.

The Police also directed a robust security arrangement for election, saying allowances for all participating policemen are already being disbursed.

Force Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood who made this known, said the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has reorganised the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad for better service delivery.

Moshood, an Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police confirmed the deployment of personnel that would ensure the security of lives and properties during the forthcoming election.

He said the security of lives was the reason for deploying thirty thousand police officers in the state, saying Ekiti was a flashpoint when it comes to politicking.

Among those who were deployed include personnel of the Police Mobile Force Unit, Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, Anti-Bomb Squad, Conventional Policemen, Armament Unit, and the sniffer dogs section.

Two Patrol Surveillance Helicopters, five additional Armoured Personnel Carriers, ten Armoured Personnel Vehicles and two hundred and fifty Police patrol vehicles are also deployed throughout the state, including difficult terrains.
