Former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG, Frank Chukwuemeka Mba, has celebrated his birthday with the unveiling of his legal firm, Frank Mba Legal, in Abuja, marking a new chapter in his professional journey after years of distinguished service in the Nigeria Police Force.
The occasion attracted tributes from colleagues, associates and admirers, including former Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who described Mba as a mentor, an exceptional professional and a man whose impact on his life and career would remain indelible.
In a tribute celebrating the occasion, Adejobi fondly referred to Mba as “the Covenant Child,” a name he said reflected the remarkable journey of a man whose life and achievements had earned him the admiration of those who knew him closely.
Adejobi recalled that their professional relationship began in 2008 when he was appointed Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, while Mba was already serving as the PPRO of the Lagos State Police Command.
He recounted how Mba approached him one day to enquire about the tailor responsible for his neatly sewn, neon-blue police uniform.
Although Adejobi identified a tailor in Abeokuta, Mba offered to introduce him to a more experienced craftsman who made uniforms for the then Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, M.D. Abubakar, who later became the 16th indigenous Inspector-General of Police.
According to Adejobi, Mba subsequently introduced him to Emma, a tailor widely known among police officers for his craftsmanship.
That seemingly ordinary encounter, he explained, marked the beginning of a lasting professional relationship and friendship that would see Mba take a keen interest in his development as a police officer and public relations practitioner.
Describing Mba’s personality, Adejobi said the retired senior police officer was humble, disciplined, intelligent and committed to encouraging people who demonstrated excellence and professionalism.
Mba rose through the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force to attain the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, leaving behind a career that spanned several strategic operational, administrative and public communication assignments.
He served three times as Force Public Relations Officer under former Inspectors-General of Police M.D. Abubakar, Mohammed Adamu and Usman Alkali Baba, playing a prominent role in communicating the activities and policies of the Force to the public.
His other appointments included Commissioner of Police, Border Patrol Force; Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command; Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos; and Deputy Inspector-General in charge of the Department of Training and Development before his retirement.
Adejobi noted that Mba’s influence extended beyond his official responsibilities, describing him as a mentor to serving police officers and others who had the privilege of working with him at different stages of their careers.
He particularly recalled Mba’s support when he was being considered for appointment as Force Public Relations Officer by the late IGP Usman Alkali Baba.
According to Adejobi, Mba recommended him for the position and repeatedly vouched for his public relations expertise and ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department.
He said the gesture remained deeply meaningful to him, adding that Mba stood by him during difficult periods when professional challenges appeared overwhelming.
“Boss, you impacted a lot in my life and career as a boss and professional colleague. You stood by me firmly when the storm was high and the battle seemed tough,” Adejobi said in his tribute.
He added that Mba’s encouragement and confidence in his abilities were gestures he would continue to cherish and appreciate throughout his life.
Congratulating the retired DIG on his birthday and the unveiling of his legal practice, Adejobi described him as an accomplished professional whose contributions to policing and mentorship had left a lasting impression on many people.
He also celebrated Mba as a brilliant alumnus of the Department of Peace, Security and Humanitarian Studies, Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
Adejobi prayed for God’s continued blessings, good health and greater accomplishments for the former police chief as he begins a new phase of professional engagement through Frank Mba Legal.
“Congratulations to you, Boss. You are a great man, an achiever and indeed a Covenant Child. May the Lord bless you and cause His glory to continually shine upon you,” he said.
The birthday celebration and unveiling of Frank Mba Legal mark a significant milestone for the former police spokesman, whose career in law enforcement was distinguished by senior leadership responsibilities, public communication and professional mentorship.
The man is generally known as Frank, but those close to him know he prefers being called ‘the Covenant Child’. For reasons known to him, he prefers the name. And for some of us who are familiar with his journey in life, we understand why he prefers the name ‘the Covenant Child’.
For those who are familiar with the Covenant Child, they will testify that he’s a humble, disciplined, smart and intelligent officer. He rose through the ranks and got to the peak of his career as a Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) in the Force.
DIG Frank Chukwuemeka Mba, Esq., Ph.D, mni, was a 3-time Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force. He served as FPRO to IGP MD Abubakar, rtd, mni; IGP Mohammed Adamu, mni; and IGP Usman Alkali Baba, fdc, respectively. I call him ‘My Boss’ or ‘Boss Man’. We are very close, like playmates. He loves good and brilliant people.
He has been a mentor to me, many officers in the Force, and many who have had the privilege of coming across him at different times and different occasions.
He made great impact in the Force as the Force PRO, CP Border Patrol Force, CP Ogun State Command, AIG Force CID Annex Alagbon, Lagos, and DIG in charge of the Department of Training and Development before his retirement.
Today, he marked his birthday and unveiled his legal firm – Frank Mba Legal – in Abuja.
I celebrate you today and always, Boss. You impacted a lot in my life and career as a boss and professional colleague. You stood by me firmly when the storm was high and the battle seemed tough. I remember when I was to be appointed Force PRO by the then IGP Usman Alkali Baba, you recommended me to him, and insisted and reiterated severally my PR prowess and competence to pilot the affairs of the Force Public Relations Department.
This has been written in gold and will remain memorable and appreciated for life. You are a great man, achiever and indeed, a Covenant Child.
Congratulations to you Boss, a brilliant alumnus of my Department of Peace, Security and Humanitarian Studies, Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. May the Lord bless you and cause His glory to continually shine upon you.
