Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) on Thursday decorated 150 newly-promoted officers with their new ranks in Lagos.
One hundred and thirty of the promoted officers are in NPS Lagos Command while the remaining 20 are from Zone A headquarters.
Two of the officers were promoted to the rank of Controller of Prisons, three to the rank of Deputy Controller of Prisons while 10 others were promoted to the rank of Assistant Controller of Prisons (ACP).
Speaking at the ceremony, Assistant Controller General (ACG) of Prisons in charge of Zone A, Kunle Babalola, urged the newly-promoted officers to be more dedicated and discharge their duties diligently.
He advised the officers to be prepared for further professional trainings in line with the new mandate of the service.
“The newly-promoted officers should see this promotion as a call to higher responsibilities and to ensure the service moves forward,’’ the ACG said.
Lagos State Controller of Prisons, Tunde Ladipo, urged the officers to ensure discipline, adding that their elevation was to boost their morale.
“The essence of the promotion is to boost the morale of officers so that they will be more dedicated to the service.
“We thank our indefatigable Comptroller General of Prisons, Ja,afaru Ahmed, for repositioning the NPS.
“A lot of challenges of the service had been surmounted by his administration,” Ladipo said.
One of the newly-promoted controllers, Julius Ezugwu, urged his colleagues to live up to expectation and see their elevation as a call to better service.
