Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant General Abdullahi Muhammadu has charged the Corps personnel to ensure effective synergy and collaboration with other security agencies without rancour.
Gana said, all hands must be on deck in tackling the current security challenges confronting the Nation most especially the issue of incessant kidnapping along the Abuja-Kaduna axis.
Therefore, he urged personnel to be resolute, peaceful, tolerant and accommodative without clashing with personnel of other security agencies, rather they should channel their energy towards providing adequate security for the protection of the civil populace and critical infrastructure which is part of the Corps core mandate.
In same vein, the authority of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency in the Corps in line with Mr. President’s drive against corruption.
Commandant General of the Corps Abdullahi Muhammadu made this known at the Corps Headquarters, Abuja while addressing personnel to shun rumours making the round that certain sum of money was found in his private account.
The Corps Chief Executive stressed that since assumption of office in July 2015 till date, the budgetary allocation released to the Corps has never been up to N7 billion but rumour mongers are concocting stories that N6billion was found in his account which is fallacious and highly unimaginable.
He stated further that, the mischieve makers posited that the alleged money was meant for staff that were promoted 2 years ago. ”This is not possible because Government in this era cannot allow such huge amount of money to be paid into a private account when it is meant for an Agency.
However, the Corps helmsman who is an anti-corruption crusader said ”in this dispensation where payment is done centrally through the CBN e-payment process, how can one person move such an amount of money to a private account without been conscious of the fact that bubble will burst.”
It is worthy of note that, Gana upon resumption of office in 2015, put in place mechanism to guarantee welfare of the personnel by maintaining an open door policy, setting up a public complaint desk, strengthening the Anti-Corruption and transparency unit, as well as the Anti-fraud units for the purpose of transparency and for personnel to channel their grievances, make inquiry and have their complain treated.
