Federal Road Safety Corps,FRSC, has booked a total of one thousand two hundred and five commercial vehicles across the country for not installing the speed limiting device.
According to the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, said some of the defaulting vehicle owners were fined instantly while others were charged to mobile courts.
Oyeyemi said full enforcement of installation of the device on commercial vehicles began as part of measures to reduce speed-induce road accidents.
He said out of a total of three thousand and four vehicles stopped for checking, only five hundred and five installed the device, saying the corps was receiving the needed government support and cooperation from other stakeholders including road transport unions.
The corps marshal said the FRSC would soon embark on a nationwide training of commercial drivers on speed management to further reduce carnage on the nation’s highways.
