Twenty-eight robbery suspects and two kidnap suspects have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command within the last two weeks.

The Command said four of the robbery suspects were shot dead during an exchange of gunfire with its men.

Sixteen different types of guns, including twenty-four AK 47 magazines, one pistol, one thousand and eighty-three ammunition, three cutlasses and ten vehicles were recovered from the suspects.

According to Security and Judiciary Correspondent, Jide Alli-Balogun the suspects, arms, ammunition, vehicles and other items were show to newsmen at the state Police Headquarters, Ikeja.

Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who announced the recovery of caches of arms in FESTAC area, said the recovery was made at sixth Avenue and that two AK 47 Riffles, twenty-four AK 47 fully loaded magazines, one Browning Pistol and magazine were recovered.

Other arms recovered, Owoseni said, included nine hundred and fifty-one ammunition of seven hundred and fifty-two mm size and one thousand one hundred and seven ammunition of six mm size.

Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the Police were doing their best possible to uncover the persons behind the stockpile.
