Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the people of the Niger Delta region will be the end losers of the pipelines bombings and vandalism going on in the region.
Osinbajo spoke during the Dinner organised in honour of outstanding graduants of the Presidential Amnesty Programme at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Vice president congratulated the graduands who were trained as pilots, automobile and electric transformer technicians amongst other skills in Nigeria and in foreign universities.
Osinbajo urged them to keep away from blowing up oil pipelines, stressing that it had large negative effect on them, their region, the country and even the generations yet unborn, saying government had by the Programme given them an opportunity to harness their God’s given potentials, urging them to pass the skill they have acquired to others too.
Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator Presidential Amnesty Programme, Paul Boroh, said government was fully committed to the amnesty programme and development of the Niger Delta region.
Noting that the programme was working and on course, he called on the agitators in the Niger Delta to lay down their arms and embrace peace, saying violence had never solved any problem anywhere in the world.
