With barely seventy-two hours to Eid-el Fitri, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC, has directed the deployment of forty thousand personnel across the nation to provide maximum security during Sallah festivities.
Its Commandant General, Abdullahi Muhammadu, who gave the directive, assured Nigerians that in spite of the uncertain security situation in some parts of the country, adequate security would be provided.
Muhammadu said adequate preparations had been made to protect critical areas such as places of worship, markets, schools, among other soft targets, advising citizens to be extra vigilant and security conscious at all times by reporting strange movements and objects to security personnel.
According to him, the NSCDC was prepared to protect critical national assets such as telecommunication masts and oil pipelines, among others, in collaboration with other security agencies.
While felicitating with Nigerians, especially Muslims on the Sallah celebration, he urged them to continue to imbibe the spirit of peaceful coexistence and tolerance at all times.
