Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has urged Oporoza and Ugborodo communities in Delta to partner the police to evolve peace in the area.
Idris made the call when he visited both communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area sequel to the spate of crises associated with militancy in the oil-rich communities.
He appealed to the people to allow peace to reign in the area as it would engender rapid development of the communities, assured them of sustained police presence in the area.
On the people’s request, Idris directed the state Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim, to liaise with the army and secure the release of school children allegedly taken away by soldiers during the crisis in the area.
Responding, the Olaraja of Ugborodo, Benson Omadeli, described the visit as historic, appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to increase the presence of the Nigerian Navy in the area.
