The Nigeria Police Force is set to develop a strategic roadmap for effective management of security during elections, as senior police officers and key stakeholders converge in Owerri, Imo State, for the sixth edition of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, CARSPO 2026.
The conference, organised in conjunction with Lenders Consult International, is themed “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections.”
According to the Force, the three-day strategic gathering will bring together senior police officers, policing experts and other key stakeholders to examine emerging challenges in electoral security and develop practical strategies for ensuring safe, peaceful and credible elections.
The conference will place particular emphasis on intelligence-led policing, police-community partnerships, digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence and other contemporary approaches capable of enhancing police operations before, during and after elections
Since its inception in 2019, CARSPO has provided a platform for strategic reflection, peer learning and professional engagement among senior police officers, while examining emerging internal security challenges and developing strategies for improved policing.
This year’s conference is particularly important as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Discussions will focus on contemporary policing strategies, application of digital technologies, enhanced intelligence gathering, police community partnerships and intelligence-led policing, amongst other approaches aimed at improving police operations before, during and after elections.
In his Remarks, the convener of the conference and retreat for senior police officers, the CEO, Lenders Consult International Shina Philips, said the organisation is committed to strengthening strategic partnership with the force as the 2027 general Election approaches.
Shina however said the vision for the conference and retreat has attracted international participation,
He however urged all Nigerians to support the police in fulfilling their constitutional mandate to secure the society
The conference, scheduled for September 21st to 23rd, 2026, and the theme for the event Developing a Nigerian Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections.
