Ogun State Police Command has commenced statewide enforcement targeting vehicles operating with covered, defaced, concealed, unauthorised, or no registration number plates, following the Inspector-General of Police’s directive.

The Command says the operation aims to boost security, improve public safety, and deny criminals the cover they use to carry out crimes, covers vehicles bearing fake, altered, or improperly issued plates, only vehicles officially authorised to display flags under approved protocols are exempt.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders to impound any vehicle in violation and carry out full investigations in line with existing laws.

Ojajuni urged motorists, transport operators, and fleet owners to ensure their vehicles display valid, properly issued, and clearly visible number plates at all times.

He said the exercise is not to harass law-abiding citizens but to strengthen their capacity to trace vehicles, investigate offences, and track suspects.

Ojajuni reiterated the commands commitment to safeguarding lives and property and called on residents to comply with the directive and provide credible information.

Officers assigned to the enforcement have been instructed to remain professional, courteous, and act within the law.
